Rural Migration Tool
The Rural Migration tool included the development of a toolkit to enable Victoria’s 38 rural councils to more easily and confidently identify effective approaches to attracting and retaining residents in their towns and municipalities. The report highlighted that understanding migration trends is the first step in developing strategies to drive them.
Following on from this report, a web based tool was created using live data to assist councils identify population gaps and look at strategies to attract and retain their residents.
The purpose of the Rural Migration Trends and Drivers Toolkit is to assist Victorian rural councils think more strategically about the target population groups they wish to attract and retain by facilitating effective analysis of available evidence, alongside local knowledge.
