Discussion and Resource Paper

This project responds to the findings of the Rural Councils’ Economic Development Activities and Capacity Audit, which indicated a need amongst rural councils for learning, skill development and capacity building to support and assist rural councils in their economic development efforts.

Learning and Development Opportunities

Provides a snap-shot of existing programs and providers that relate to the specific areas identified as priorities for learning, skills development and capacity building in economic development for rural councils, specifically:

• The strategic context of, and better practice approaches to, economic development;
• Land use and town planning from an economic development perspective;
• ICT/social media as an economic development (marketing) tool.
