Rural Victorians are problem-solvers. Limited government funding, long travel times to essential services and the unique challenges of rural life mean our communities are used to being creative to get things done.

As part of its advocacy for better services and infrastructure, Rural Councils Victoria wants to highlight some of the innovative and creative work rural Victorians are already doing in their communities and has launched a Community Innovators Competition.

Whether it is a librarian trying new ways to reach communities in remote locations, a school principal creating a smarter way to teach students about road safety, or a farmer developing a better system for fire prevention, we want to hear about what you’re doing to work smarter in rural Victoria.

Councils will receive information to help promote the competition and it would be greatly appreciated if this could be shared in newsletters, social media and on websites where possible.
